Adulteration of meat products is widespread in the food industry. This could result not only in unfair competition and fraud, but constitutes a public health concern. Identification of meat sources in a food product with traditional techniques could be cumbersome or simply not possible. At BIOAL we offer meat authenticity testing using molecular [DNA] markers. Here, individual species in a meat product are identified in a sensitive and precise manner by means of PCR amplification. These tests can be customized for each meat product and target species at request.
